Hey all. This is just a quick message to let you know that Theme Thesis is finally on Facebook. Make sure to become a fan. Or a liker. Or whatever. See ya' there! - Matt

Free Thesis Skin - Words

This is a content-focused skin for Thesis. It was created and used for my web design blog for a while but I have since changed the design over there so I figured why not release it for the Thesis community. There are some pretty cool features such as Twitter support out of the box, but it’s a very simple theme. (It looks really nice with one sidebar too.) Note that this isn’t a full theme; you need to purchase Thesis first to install this skin.

Features:

  • Clean design
  • Stay updated function
  • Sidebar list style
  • Sidebar icon style
  • Twitter support
  • Custom sidebar css stylings

This skin is free provided you keep the links in the footer. If you’d like to remove them, I ask for a donation of $10 or more. Thanks.

Instructions:

Free Thesis Skin - Words

  1. Make sure Thesis is installed and custom-sample is renamed custom
  2. Overwrite custom.css and custom-functions.php with the files of the same name supplied.
  3. If using Thesis 1.7, upload the Thesis settings included under “Manage Options”. If using an older version of Thesis (although I strongly recommend updating), you can manually input the settings included in this .zip titled Settings.txt.
  4. Upload the entire /icons folder to your sites root directory (the main directory – in the end it should look like yoursite.com/icons)
  5. Read the rest of the instructions included and use any css styles or functions you feel like using

Enjoy!

Matt – Very Nice and thanks for sharing! I think it will really benefit a lot of Thesis users looking for a nice clean design. I’ll be sure to add this one to my Thesis Skins library. Keep up the good work.

That is a nice design for a skin. You should have a demo site that people can see the full functionality of it for more reception. :)

Yeah but I don’t have a Developers license right now. (I know, *gasp*!) I have to make people buy their own full copies of Thesis when I design for them and everything :p I wasn’t sure (and still am not) of the legality in using a personal license more than once on the same domain name. Playing it safe is safe, heh.

Thanks for the comments so far everyone.

Matt, hi I really like the way this page looks. I’m new to Wordpress.org but I catch on fast. I’ve got a WP site and blog. I’d like for the blog portion to look like this page. Can I pull this off as a beginner without wiping out my site? Thanks!

As long as you host your own blog then yeah, it’d be very easy. You just need to get Thesis and then download the skin. Instructions are included.

Awesome skin, Matt! Quick question: How do I get the width of my site to be able to fit without a scroll bar? I’ve played with the width in the css a bit, but to no avail.

Thanks in advance!

On my 13″ Macbook there is no scrollbar. What’s your resolution?

Yeah, on my laptop it looks totally different. Not sure what my resolution is on the other computer I was using earlier today. But, sounds like the problem is the computer screen. Sorry bout that. Is there a standard width for content and sidebar for these themes?

No standard width. I’d try to at least keep it under 1024 total. I usually stick for 960 and under because I use a 960px grid for a lot of my designs and it works very well.
