HẢI PHÒNG — Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc clarified concerns over the draft Law on Special Administrative – Economic Zones and the Law on Cybersecurity during a meeting with voters in Tiên Lãng District in the northern city of Hải Phòng on Monday.

The PM said that the National Assembly and Government had listened to public feedback and decided to postpone the approval of the draft Law on Special Administrative – Economic Zones. Explaining the draft law, he said Special Administrative – Economic Zones had been included in the  二0 一 四 Constitution, adding that the model had been implemented successfully in many countries. The target of the draft law was to attract more investment and create growth, PM Phúc said, noting that the building process of the draft law had been open for opinion. 

However, demonstrations have been held in several cities about several legal regulations of both new laws.Regarding the Law on Cyber Security, the PM said other countries had issued similar laws.The PM stressed that protesters had damaged property and stopped officials from carrying out their duties, while blocking traffics and affecting daily life and the investment environment in the country.The media should work to counter wrongful allegations, especially on social media, to ensuring public security and safety. He also urged the public to stay calm and vigilant, and trust in the leadership of the Party and State. — VNS
